About House & Carriage

Going into business together had always been their plan, so at the beginning of 2007 Charles Schmidt and Thomas Skelton started their own company; House & Carriage. It began as an antidote to the infamous 'White Van Man', originally just the two business partners with one very smart van; two years later H&C now employs eight, has a fleet of vans, two storage facilities and moves anything from a single painting to a ten bedroom country manor house.

The Directors

Described by his friends as 'a true gentleman' Tom started his career at Browns, a long established restaurant group and a leader in service standards for many years; He led much of their recruitment, training and development and helped to set up a number of their outlets in London. His attention to detail and courteous attitude to clients gives House & Carriage a genuine edge over their competitors.

Charlie, a vivacious and convivial Australian, starts his days before the sun comes up and has an aptitude for hard work, meticulous planning and leading his team. His career has taken him from Northern Australia, where he constructed a network of electricity pylons to supervising work on London Underground’s new link to Heathrow Terminal 5. House & Carriage clients can always feel confident that the job will be done with the minimum fuss and the maximum of effort with this man around.

With their diverse combination of skills, Tom and Charlie have formed a unique partnership. Coupled with outgoing personalities and impeccable manners, their can-do approach lends itself perfectly to House & Carriage's business.

"Our lives and our business have brought us to a small Cotswold town. We have a solid determination to make living here and House & Carriage a great success. Where we can we give our time to local events and clubs to promote sports in the area and support the efforts of our local charities. For us sustaining our success in business sits on a firm friendship, and a keen desire to give the best we can to our families, our clients and our community"
