In the summer of 2016, a family decided to sell their Cotswold country home. They employed a project manager who coordinated the move for them, working alongside the House & Carriage staff. This complex move was subsequently carried out to an extremely high standard.
This move needed to incorporate multiple elements, including:
The Project Manager approached a number of removals companies in order to find out about the services they had on offer, how much they would charge and to see if their approach was suitable for this sizeable task. House & Carriage came highly recommended and once an initial call had taken place, Company Director, Tom Skelton, met the Project Manager and visited the property, paying great detail to all the specified requirements.
During the visit, Tom gave good detailed advice around how to approach the move – something competing companies did not do. This gave the Project Manager the confidence that House & Carriage were the perfect partners for the job.
The quote provided by House & Carriage was neither the most expensive nor the cheapest received from the four companies that were initially approached. Happy with the costs, House & Carriage were soon given the go-ahead by the Project Manager to carry out this work. It was due to take place from September onwards, when deliveries of sold items would begin to take place, carried out by House & Carriage.
During September contact between the Project Manager and House & Carriage was ongoing because items were being sold, and the number of belongings needing to go into storage was therefore always changing. Tom and the team were extremely flexible and understanding during this time, when the scope of the project was continually shifting.
The move was scheduled to take place late in September over the course of five days. On day one the House & Carriage team arrived with three vans at 8.30am. Tom was initially on-site to co-ordinate the move, working alongside the Project Manager.
House & Carriage had provided packing materials for the family to pack up some personal belongings beforehand, but the majority of the packing was carried out by Tom and his team. This included removing and packing delicate and valuable items such as chandeliers and art, and dismantling a full size snooker table.
Everything ran smoothly with different consignments of items being moved swiftly and carefully to their new locations, and nothing was damaged.
According to the Project Manager: “The biggest challenge was finding a company who offered the care and attention to detail required for this large scale high-end move. We found exactly this in House & Carriage and we would have no hesitation in recommending them. They are prompt, efficient, knowledgeable – really great people with an excellent team spirit. We are all absolutely delighted.”
The family now have the belongings they need with them at their home in London, as well as the majority of the items stored safely with House & Carriage
at their secure storage facilities in Oxfordshire. As soon as the family find their next country property, these
items will be delivered to them there directly by the House & Carriage team.
