Ten reasons why you might need self storage in 2017

Many of life’s little challenges can be solved quickly with self storage!

We are fast approaching the end of the year and coming closer to the time when we make our New Year resolutions. Apart from aiming to get fitter and healthier, why not also make a pledge to de-clutter your personal space? Without further ado, here are ten reasons why you might need to use our self storage facilities in Oxfordshire in 2017.

1) You are planning a general clear out/de-clutter
Perhaps you have already taken a look at your house and decided that now is the time to de-clutter and tidy up. It may be fairly straight forward to remove old magazines, DVDs and books. But in all likelihood, you will have personal mementos that you might want to keep for the longer term.

2) You are having a baby and want to turn your home office into a nursery
The arrival of a baby can change so many things in your life, including the way you live! With space at a premium, many couples choose to convert their home offices into nurseries to accommodate their new arrivals. They then find themselves in the situation where they have a lot of excess office furniture that they need to dispose of.

3) You have elderly relatives coming to live with you
Care costs are currently spiralling and increasing numbers of families are choosing to look after their elderly relatives at home. Moving items and putting them into self storage can free up your living space and make it a much more welcoming environment for your older relatives.

4) You have your long-lost family from Australia coming to stay
It’s the phone call you’ve always been dreading/looking forward to! One day your phone rings and your distant cousins from Australia announce they want to come to the UK and stay with you. What do you do? While you might be tempted to suggest that they disappear into the outback, it is easier (and more diplomatic) to clear your place and stock up on some crates of amber nectar.

5) You are having some decorating work done and you need space for the workmen
We know that workmen have the best intentions, but they do have a habit of accidentally damaging things and dirtying the carpets. To give yourself peace of mind, put your most precious items into self storage. Now all you need to do is make sure you have a good supply of tea and biscuits!

6) You are giving your home a facelift but can’t bear to part (or live) with the antiques you inherited from old Aunt Maude
Humans are sentimental creatures. There really shouldn’t be any reason why you would want to keep that mock Tudor throne from Aunt Maude or the moose head from Uncle George.

7) You are having your garden landscaped and you need to put the contents of your shed somewhere
We all know that many British people have green fingers. Every now and then we like to take to planting and re-landscaping our gardens. If you plan to overhaul the design of your garden you might want to remove or move your shed so you’ll need self storage for all the garden equipment in the interim.

8) You are having your loft or garage converted into living space
Loft and garage conversions are becoming increasingly popular as people look at alternative ways to free up more space in their properties. Of course, a loft conversion is all well and good as long as you know what to do with the stuff that is already there. Instead of fretting about what to keep and what to get rid of, why not put your belongings into temporary storage until you have made up your mind?

9) You have started up a new venture and you need a home office space
Over the last few years, increasing numbers of people have become self-employed and started up their own businesses. Perhaps you find yourself in the same situation and want to convert one of your rooms into a home office. Of course, there will be things that you want to throw out, but other items that you want to keep.

10) You are just moving in with your partner and you really don’t like their pictures/furniture/Star Wars figures/cushions
We all know that there are compromises in every relationship, but do those compromises extend to belongings? Instead of arguing with your partner about their things, you can defuse the situation by putting them into self storage on a temporary basis. With some luck, your partner may even forget about their existence and you’ll never have to suffer the distress of seeing them again.

As you can see, there are many reasons why you might need to use our self storage facilities in 2017. Get in touch with us today to find out more.
